Huntingdonshire District Council is pleased to announce that the planning application for the proposed investment plan in Hinchingbrooke Country Park is now available for public viewing. This significant step marks the beginning of an important phase in shaping the future of this valuable community asset.

The planning application outlines the comprehensive investment plans aimed at enhancing the facilities and natural attributes of Hinchingbrooke Country Park, including the new cafe facilities, parking, and improved pathway network. These plans have been curated from feedback and engagement from our local communities, and they are now available to be viewed and commented on formally.

Physical copies of the plans will be available to view at the Countryside Centre between 9.30am to 4.30pm on the following dates:

  • August: 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29

  • September: 8, 9 and 10.

The plans are also available to view and comment on via the council's planning portal using Ref no: 23/01377/FUL.

Executive Councillor for Leisure, Waste and Street Scene, Cllr Simone Taylor said: "We are thrilled to present the plans for the investment at Hinchingbrooke Country Park. These plans lay out the exciting future for the park, and how it will continue to improve on being a great asset for our residents now and for generations to come. I'd like to thank those who have been involved and provided feedback and support so far and invite everyone to view and engage with these plans."

Secretary of the Hinchingbrooke Country Park Friends Group said: "We are truly excited about the upcoming new development plans at Hinchingbrooke Country Park. These initiatives reflect the commitment to preserving the park's natural beauty while enhancing its recreational and community offerings. We look forward to seeing these plans come to life and hope to see even more people enjoying the beautiful park!"

The plans will be available to view and comment on until 7 September 2023. Subject to approval and the identification of any conditions, a tendering process is anticipated in the winter of 2023 to select a contractor.

Following the successful completion of this process, construction is projected to begin in spring 2024, starting with the enhancement of the car park. Subsequent phases will encompass the revamp of the cafe facilities and the improvement of the pathway network. Whilst some disruption is expected at times, rest assured that the park will remain accessible throughout 2024.
