Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new Sports Facility Strategy. The Strategy was unanimously approved at the Cabinet meeting on 20 June 2023.

The Strategy, which has been endorsed by Sport England, consists of two parts: the Indoor and Built Sports Facilities (swimming pools, sports halls etc) and the Playing Pitch and Outdoor Sports Facilities.

Together they will provide the evidence base to develop a variety of facilities across the district, maximising the financial funding available which, in turn, will help to shape the leisure and sporting landscape across Huntingdonshire for the future.

Executive Councillor for Leisure, Waste and Street Scene, Councillor Simone Taylor, said: "We are delighted to now be able to share the Sports Facility Strategy with our residents, partners and providers.

"This is a key document for shaping our vision of creating and maintaining high quality, sustainable leisure and sports facilities across the district, which will meet community need, increase participation, help to tackle health and age issues and provide accessible, inclusive activities for Huntingdonshire residents as part of an active lifestyle."
