System Maintenance: 12 October 2024

System maintenance is scheduled from 8am - 10.30pm on 12 October 2024. This may cause disruption to the website, including various online services such as online forms and planning public access. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We will collect:

  • air conditioning units (portable)
  • any item under 12ft in length (sofas over 12ft can be cut in half, but the pieces must be made safe, for example, exposed ends/staples covered by tape)
  • armchairs
  • barbecues (not including gas bottles)
  • baths
  • bed bases
  • bedside cabinets
  • bicycles
  • black sacks/boxes of general waste (5 sacks = 1 item)
  • blinds
  • boilers
  • bookcases
  • bunk beds (counts as 2 items)
  • cabin beds (counts as 3 items)
  • carpets (one carpet must be rolled and tied, under 12ft in length and be manageable by two people. Large carpets must be cut up into smaller pieces (under 12ft in length) and tied)
  • chests of drawers
  • chippers (garden)
  • Christmas trees (artificial)
  • climbing frames (must be dismantled, full size wooden / metal counts as 4)
  • clothes airers/clothes horses
  • coffee tables
  • compost bins
  • computer CPUs
  • computer keyboards
  • computer monitors
  • cookers
  • cots
  • desks
  • dining room chairs (up to 4 chairs count as 1 item, 4 to 8 chairs count as 2 items)
  • dining tables

We won't collect:

  • any item that cannot be handled by two people
  • asbestos *
  • car/motorbike parts (all)
  • gas bottles
  • oil (motor oil and cooking oil) *
  • packaging
  • paint/chemicals *
  • rubble/builders’ waste/soil/concrete posts
  • textiles
  • vehicles (except bicycles)

*Hazardous waste is subject to special requirements in order to prevent contamination or infection under the Hazardous Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2005. There is a legal duty of care to ensure that such waste is disposed of properly.
