Can I offer day care in my home?
Yes, However, you can only be licenced for home boarding and must adhere to those conditions.
Can I board cats in my home?
Yes, However, cats must be kept in suitably secure accommodation as set out in the conditions for catteries. Cats cannot have ‘the run of the house’ in the same way a dog would.
Can I offer more than one activity?
Yes. If you intend to offer more than one activity at the same time, please contact us for specific advice.
Can I board dogs if I have pets of my own?
Yes, However it is your responsibility to ensure your pet is sociable enough to accept other dogs in its home, without impacting on the welfare of the resident or boarded animal(s). Officers will consider the welfare of any resident animals on an individual basis, during the inspection.
How many dogs can I board in my home?
This will be determined during the inspection and will be based on the space available to satisfactorily separate each dog.
What if I don’t agree with my awarded star rating?
In the first instance you can lodge an appeal to the awarded star rating. Please download and complete the appeal form [RTF, 0.3MB] and return it to us within 21 days of the date of the issue of the licence.
Can I appeal if my licence is refused, varied, suspended or revoked?
If we decide not to grant a licence or we decide to vary, suspend or revoke your licence without your agreement, then we will inform you in writing.
You will have 7 working days to submit a representation in respect of our decision. We will then have a further 7 working days to respond to this and inform you whether we uphold or cancel our decision.
If you are still unhappy with our decision after this then you will have 28 days to lodge an appeal with the First-tier Tribunal.
