Making polling stations a safe place to visit
We are putting arrangements in place to help ensure polling stations are safe place to vote.
You can expect many of the measures you've become used to in recent months in shops and banks, such as hand sanitiser, screening, one-way systems, floor markings and face coverings.
You may be asked to queue outside the polling station so that staff can monitor the number of people in the premises at one time. You can also bring along your own pen or pencil.
Registering to vote
The deadline for registering to vote is midnight on Monday 19 April 2021.Register to Vote
Postal or proxy voting
If you are shielding, vulnerable or would just prefer not to go to the polling station, you can apply for a postal vote or a proxy vote (where someone votes on your behalf).
You must be registered to vote to apply for a postal or proxy vote (so must your proxy).
- email to email@example.com or
- post to Huntingdonshire District Council, Pathfinder House, St Mary's Street, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE29 3TN
If you do not have online access please call 01480 388017 for a postal/proxy form to be sent to you.
Apply now - apply early!
If you’re thinking about voting by post, you can apply to do this now as this will help us to manage the expected increase in applications. It will also ensure that your application is processed early and your postal vote can be sent to you more quickly once the candidates for the elections are confirmed.
You can find further information on postal voting or download a voter registration form on the Electoral Commission's website.
For further information on proxy voting or download a voter registration form on the Electoral Commission's website.
If you already have a postal or proxy application in place you do not need to apply again.
Should election arrangements change, we will share updates via local newspapers, social media and the website.
The hours of poll are 7am to 10pm on Thursday 6 May 2021. Details of your polling station may have changed for this election - you may need to vote at a different location, or in a different building. Please check your poll card for the location of your polling station.
