Combined District Council and Town/Parish Council Elections - Thursday 7 May 2026

On Thursday 7 May 2026, elections will take place in all of Huntingdonshire’s District Council wards and all town/parish councils. 52 district councillors will be elected to represent 26 wards, and 650 town and parish councillors will be elected to represent 71 town and parish councils.

Nominations

The Notice of the Election will be published here on Monday 30 March 2026. Nomination papers must be delivered, by hand, to the offices of Huntingdonshire District Council in Huntingdon (PE29 3TN) between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Nominations must be received by 4pm on Thursday 9 April 2026.

Registering to vote and voting by post or proxy

The deadline to register to vote in this election is Monday 20 April 2026. At these elections, you will need to provide photographic identification before you can vote at a polling station. Read our Voter ID page to learn more. If you do not have one of the required forms of ID, you can apply for a free voter authority certificate.

The deadline to apply is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026.

If you are unable to vote in person, you can apply to vote by post or appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf.

If you wish to apply for a postal vote, please note that we must receive your application by 5pm, Tuesday 21 April 2026. You will not need photo ID to vote by post. If you wish to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf, they will need to go to your polling station and have their own photo ID to vote on your behalf. The deadline for proxy applications is 5pm, Tuesday 28 April 2026.

The District Council and town/parish elections count will take place on Friday, 8 May 2026 at One Leisure St Ives.
