Hedges that are allowed to grow unchecked can cause problems and be a nuisance for neighbours.

If you are having a problem with high hedges, you must first try to resolve the matter with your neighbour and only complain to us as a last resort. Some useful guidance on settling your hedge problems without involving the local council can be found in Over the Garden Hedge.

If you do make a complaint to us, we will require evidence of what you have done to try to settle the matter, such as copies of letters you have sent, the outcome of discussions you have had and the results of any mediation.

We will charge the person making the complaint a fee of £450 if we become involved in the dispute.
