Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.

At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

Job details

Join HDC as a Projects Manager in our Regeneration team, where you'll lead the delivery of impactful capital projects that revitalise our communities.

This role offers the chance to drive sustainable regeneration from concept to completion, collaborate on innovative development models like joint ventures, and make a tangible difference in a forward-thinking local authority.

Key selling points include overseeing diverse projects with real community impact, access to professional development opportunities, and a flexible hybrid working environment that supports work-life balance.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to manage the end-to-end delivery of discrete capital projects within the Regeneration portfolio, ensuring they are feasible, viable, and sustainable while aligning with HDC's commitment to enhancing our market towns and villages.

You'll focus on pre-construction phases, including viability assessments, legal and technical due diligence, and procurement of multi-disciplinary teams, while acting as the client representative to deliver schemes on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

This position fits seamlessly with HDC's mission to provide exceptional services to residents and businesses in the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, where innovation and resident-focused decision-making drive our work.

It embodies our icare values, particularly collaborative - through partnership with internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to coordinate effective project delivery - and enterprising, by embracing challenges in regeneration, adapting to evolving needs, and securing funding bids to realise ambitious community benefits.

About you

We're seeking a motivated professional with a passion for regeneration and public service, who thrives in dynamic environments and is driven to deliver projects that enhance community vitality.

Key qualities include resilience, professionalism, and a creative approach to problem-solving and stakeholder engagement. Essential skills encompass strong project management expertise (ideally with methodologies like PRINCE2), financial acumen for budget forecasting and monitoring, and the ability to lead and delegate effectively while building productive partnerships.

You should be politically aware, analytical in evaluating complex information, and committed to accountability in decision-making. Ideally, you'll hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as town planning, surveying or project management, and/or equivalent experience in delivering property or regeneration projects.

Your motivation should align with our icare values, inspiring others through pride in public service and a collaborative spirit to achieve shared goals.

An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
