Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.

At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

Job details

Are you an experienced administrator who has a good eye for detail? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment? If so, we have the perfect role for you!

As our HR Administrator, you will support the council through a period of significant organisational change, providing practical, hands‑on support across workforce data, reporting and project activity. You will help ensure that the information we rely on is accurate, up to date and ready to inform important decisions linked to Local Government Reorganisation.

This will involve working with HR systems to cleanse and validate data, maintaining trackers and documentation, and supporting the coordination of project activity. You will also assist in producing reports and workforce information for senior managers, as well as responding to queries and working closely with colleagues across the organisation.

It is a varied role where attention to detail really matters, and where your work will directly contribute to how effectively the council prepares for change.

About you

You are someone who takes pride in being organised and accurate, particularly when working with data and systems. You may already have experience in an HR, administrative or project support role, and you are confident using tools such as Excel, Word and Outlook to manage information and priorities.

You are able to manage your workload, meet deadlines and adapt when priorities change. You communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a supportive team.

Most importantly, you are proactive, reliable and keen to learn. You understand the importance of handling sensitive information appropriately and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to meaningful organisational change within a public sector setting.

An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
