The Core Strategy was adopted by the council in 2009. The Core Strategy sets out the strategic spatial planning framework for development in Huntingdonshire to 2026.

The aim of the Core Strategy is to help Huntingdonshire's economy move forward, remain competitive and be attractive to investors.

It contains policies to manage growth and guide new development in the district and also addresses issues of wider concern, such as climate change and reducing our carbon footprint.

The Core Strategy was replaced by the Local Plan to 2036, after it was adopted.
