Huntingdonshire District Council is delighted to be named as the winners in the Most Improved Refuse Collection category at the annual Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Performance Networks Awards 2021. The awards celebrate the best and the most improved services across eleven different categories from Building Maintenance to Transport Operations and Vehicle Maintenance. The finalists were for each award category were selected from those local authorities who have participated in performance networks for the 2019-20 financial year.
The District Council was declared the winner of the Most Improved Refuse Collection category at the virtual awards ceremony which took place on Tuesday 8 June 2021.
Executive Councillor for Operations and Environment, Cllr Marge Beuttell, said: "Winning this award as the Most Improved Refuse Collection service among the field of nominees is a great testament to the hard work and dedication that our teams put in, not only maintain but also, improve on the continually excellent service that they provide. Our Refuse Collection service in Huntingdonshire consistently runs at a high level, including over the last year where it continued to provide a full and regular service for residents through extremely trying times for local authorities. This award is in recognition of the continued progress of the service that was already in the top quartile for performance and above average for value for money."
The District Council was selected as nominated finalists in the APSE 2021 awards for:
Best performer – Refuse Collection
Best performer – Sports and Leisure Facility Management, for One Leisure St Ives (Indoor)
Most Improved – Refuse Collection [Winner]
Most Improved – Street Cleansing.
