Huntingdonshire District Council’s Active Lifestyles Team is continuing to roll out a series of new physical activity and exercise courses this New Year. The idea is to encourage inactive people to become more active in a welcoming, comfortable environment.
The first of these activities is named 'Shoot for Health'. The course is designed to support inactive adults to live a healthier lifestyle and manage their weight effectively and safely. The initial 8-session programme involves playing the much-loved game of football, whilst helping you to become fitter and healthier by increasing your activity and fitness levels.
This course is designed for inactive adults (less than 30 minutes per week) with a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 45.
The team is also offering a five-week Beginners Yoga course, focussing on teaching the physical postures of yoga with an emphasis on the breath. There will also be a five-week Beginners Pilates course, teaching the foundations of the Pilates technique. Both of these courses are designed to increase your confidence to transition into mainstream classes.
These beginners courses are designed for inactive adults (less than 30 minutes per week).
Shoot for Health will take place at One Leisure Huntingdon on Mondays 5pm - 6pm starting 10 January 2022
Beginners Yoga will take place at One Leisure St Ives on Tuesdays 11.30am - 12.30pm starting 11 January 2022
Beginners Pilates will take place at One Leisure Huntingdon on Wednesdays 12.30pm - 1.30pm starting 12 January 2022.
All the courses are free of charge to participants thanks to funding from the 'Healthy You' service. 'Healthy You' supports community-based programmes aimed at increasing physical activity and building community resilience, particularly for people who are currently inactive.
You can keep up to date with upcoming courses funded through Healthy You.
