Huntingdonshire District Council will shortly open applications for the two latest government business grant schemes, announced to combat the impact of the Omicron surge on local businesses.
The two schemes, Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) and the discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) - January 2022, will be open for applications from 10am on Monday 31 January. We will deliver these two brand new schemes to run alongside the existing Digital Business Grants and Growth Grants. A full breakdown of eligibility criteria can be found on our Grants page.
Executive Leader of the council, Councillor Ryan Fuller, said: "Since the government announced the latest round of grant funding for businesses and provided the latest guidance, we have been developing the schemes to offer the best support to Huntingdonshire businesses.
"Over the past two years, we have successfully distributed over £54 million to Huntingdonshire businesses. These two new grant schemes are aimed at supporting the economic recovery of Huntingdonshire and we will continue to target resources to support our local business community."
The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) scheme is designed for hospitality, leisure, and accommodation businesses, taking the form of a one-off grant, of £2,667, £4,000 or £6,000 to rates paying businesses, based on rateable value. The funding pot for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) scheme totals £1.39 million, allowing the District Council to support the eligible sectors impacted recently by the Omicron wave.
The new discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) - January 2022 scheme offers one-off grant payments to businesses that are not eligible for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) scheme. The total pot for this scheme is just over £330,000, with each grant available valued at £2,000.
This Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) - January 2022 is a limited fund from government and therefore applications will only be accepted until the fund has been exhausted, if the demand for the grant falls short of the total fund, the scheme will be reviewed to identify a solution that benefits the Huntingdonshire business community.
Full eligibility criteria and information regarding both schemes and how to apply can be found by visiting our Grants page.
