Huntingdonshire District Council has approved a new Place Strategy called Huntingdonshire Futures following a Full Council meeting on Wednesday 29 March.

Huntingdonshire Futures, which sets out a shared vision for the future of Huntingdonshire for the next 30 years, has been co-developed with partners, organisations and Huntingdonshire residents following an extensive period of engagement across the district over the last year.

The strategy articulates Huntingdonshire's aspirations and ambitions, and maps out plans for place, people, economy, and the environment. It will also guide future strategy and policy developments as well as investment decisions made by the council and its partners to enable better outcomes for residents, communities, and businesses.

Executive Leader of Huntingdonshire District Council, Cllr Sarah Conboy, said: "Great communities don't happen by chance, they happen because stakeholders, residents and businesses share a clear vision of how they want them to be and have bold, well thought out plans and priorities to achieve these.

"At the heart of Huntingdonshire Futures has been to understand what is most important to residents, communities and stakeholders within our towns and rural areas and across Huntingdonshire. The district is already one of the best places to live in the country, but this shared strategy will ensure this continues for current and future generations.

"Huntingdonshire Futures also reinforces our commitment to partnership working. By developing it with our stakeholders and partners, who will continue to champion or lead on parts of it, we can influence better outcomes for our residents and communities to achieve the future we want."

Charlotte Horobin, Region Director, Midlands and East of England, Make UK, said: "As the national body for UK manufacturing, Make UK has been delighted to work so closely with Huntingdonshire District Council to shape the Huntingdonshire Futures Place Strategy. Huntingdonshire boasts a density of manufacturing businesses and shaping a strategy that supports their future is essential to creating highly paid, productive jobs of the future, manufacturing world class products and remaining as key pillars of the local economic community."
