Think local logo

Our market towns are full of small and medium-sized independent retailers that make our towns special. Our local businesses support local jobs, which is essential for successful towns. We can all vote with our feet to support our markets and shops.

Our local markets and businesses make every effort to trade safely. Signs and queue markers help us all to stay safe in our high streets, being kind and patient with others.

The council has supported our local businesses to use Click it Local – for home delivery of local products so if you can’t get out, support our businesses by seeing what is available on line.

Measures to help us enjoy our towns safely?

In conjunction with Cambridgeshire County Council and our Town Councils a number of measures have been implemented:

  • moving markets to create space in our town centres to ensure they can continue and provide plenty of safe space

  • a new parking App MiPermit or online to enable contactless parking

  • hand sanitiser within our car parks

  • signage highlighting social distancing message

  • queue and queue end markers

  • additional street cleaning

  • pavement widening where it is possible to do so
