The Wings for Life World Run is taking place on 8 May 2016.

The charity, which funds research into spinal injuries, holds an annual run where participants in 34 locations worldwide start at exactly the same time and run for as long as they can until they are caught by a ‘Catcher Car’.

The race will begin in Cambridge before heading out into the rest of the county. The route is mainly in the districts around Huntingdonshire, but it dips in and out of the district (from Somersham to Oldhurst then back through Woodhurst, to Bluntisham and Earith).

It is estimated there will be 3,500 runners. The Huntingdonshire section is towards the end of the race when there will only be a few (if any) of the fastest runners left. Road closures are estimated to be for approximately 1 hour 10 minutes.

Information for residents, including which roads will closed and at what times, is available on the Wings for Life website.
