Young people taking part in U Canoe initiative

Young people are being given the chance to get involved with canoeing during the winter season through U Canoe, an initiative created by British Canoeing.

The One Leisure Active Lifestyles team at Huntingdonshire District Council is offering young people, through groups and clubs, the opportunity to develop water confidence and canoeing skills within the safety of a pool. Sessions aim to provide a fun-filled experience in a relaxed environment.

These activator-led sessions will provide participants with the chance to try out a range of exciting new activities and progress further in the sport of canoeing. U Canoe sessions are a perfect first step to getting on the water and becoming a regular paddler.

Cllr John Palmer, Executive Councillor for Leisure and Health, said: "This is a great incentive to get everyone out and active during these winter months, and what an excellent opportunity it gives young people to try something new!"

The One Leisure Active Lifestyles team is currently running sessions from One Leisure sites across the district. If you are interested in booking a session at your nearest One Leisure site, or if you would like to find out more information, please contact Amy Anton on 01480 388858 or amy.anton@huntingdonshire.gov.uk.
