Huntingdonshire Food And Drink Festival

The 2008 Huntingdonshire Food and Drink Festival is taking place this September from Thursday 25 to Monday 29 – and what a tasty feast it will provide.

Don't miss out on your chance to win £100 of party and entertainment food from Waitrose by entering the quiz using the form on the right. Entry forms will also be available at the Food fest 08 event at Woodgreen on Sunday 28 September.

Organised by Huntingdonshire District Council and sponsored by commercial supporters, the festival will be a celebration of all that is excellent from the area’s local producers, growers and retailers.
The festival will be a fun filled family event with something for everyone. The main event is the Food Fest at Wood Green with smaller events taking place across the district during the five days.

At the one-day foodie extravaganza, at Wood Green on September 28 you will be able to visit local producers, sample their produce, watch cooking demonstrations using local ingredients and learn more about the quality and variety of the healthy food produced in this region.  There’ll be plenty of opportunity, too, for the kids to get involved by visiting the education zone or by rolling up their sleeves and trying their hand at different cooking skills.

Other events include special Farmers’ Markets, locally-sourced menus in local restaurants, the hunt for the best sandwich competition, a young chef’s competition at Saxongate, Huntingdon and the Huntingdonshire 2008 Food and Drink Awards, run by the Hunts Post in association with Huntingdonshire District Council are all taking place during the five day celebration of local food and drink.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the Food and Drink Awards.   We are inviting you to nominate and then vote for your favourite food producers, suppliers and chefs and the winners will announced at a presentation ceremony at the Old Bridge Hotel.

We all hear so much about the excessive miles used in bringing our meals to the table, that a celebration of what is available right here on our doorsteps should really open our eyes to the fact that we don’t need to ‘spend’ all those food miles when there is so much tasty, healthy, fresh, food right here under our noses!
