On the 8th of December 2011 the Cabinet endorsed the proposal for the Council to produce a new Local Plan. The Local Plan will cover the period up to 2036 and, once adopted, will replace all current parts of the development plan, including the Core Strategy 2009 and the saved policies of the Local Plan 1995 and Local Plan Alteration 2002.
An updated Local Development Scheme, which will outline the timetable for preparing and delivering the new local plan, is being prepared and will be presented to Cabinet in February 2012.

HWAAP

The Huntingdon West Area Action Plan (HWAAP) was adopted on 23 February 2011 at the meeting of the Full Council and now forms part of the Huntingdonshire Local Development Framework. The adopted version of the Area Action Plan is available in ‘Linked Documents’ and is available at the Council’s main offices and libraries as detailed in the Adoption Notice. Also available is the Sustainability Appraisal Adoption Statement.
Huntingdon West is likely to change dramatically over the next 20 years which could offer tremendous opportunities for environmental improvement and new development.
Huntingdon West offers the ideal opportunity for promoting environmentally friendly development providing homes, work and leisure close together, linked by excellent pedestrian, cycle and public transport routes.

Submission 2010 and Examination

The Huntingdon West Area Action Plan (HWAAP) was submitted on 9 April 2010. After the examination process the Area Action Plan was found sound by the Government Inspector. The Inspector’s Report, associated appendices and covering letter are available in ‘Linked Documents’.

Earlier Stages

The Huntingdon West Area Action Plan was developed through Issues and Options and a Preferred Approach. These documents and comments received can be viewed through the Consultation Portal in ‘External Links’.
