Development Management DPD
Latest News
On the 8th of December 2011 the Cabinet endorsed the proposal for the Council to produce a new Local Plan. The Local Plan will cover the period up to 2036 and, once adopted, will replace all current parts of the development plan, including the Core Strategy 2009 and the saved policies of the Local Plan 1995 and Local Plan Alteration 2002.
An updated Local Development Scheme, which will outline the timetable for preparing and delivering the new local plan, is being prepared and will be presented to Cabinet in February 2012.
Development Management DPD
The Development Management DPD, which was previously known as the Development Control Policies DPD, will form part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) and will support the Core Strategy and the East of England Plan. It will set out the Council's policies for managing development in Huntingdonshire.
Earlier Consultation
Consultation on initial issues and options took place from May to July 2007. We sought input on the issues that needed to be raised and the options available to us. All representations received were considered and used in the development of options.
The Development of Options document was consulted upon between 30 January and 27 March 2009. Details of the consultation process and the considerations that went in to drawing up the Development Management DPD can be found in the Statement of Consultation in ‘Linked Documents’.
In December 2009 the Council consulted a selected group of key consultees on the Draft Proposed Submission document, in order to try to iron out any remaining issues with its contents. The Draft Proposed Submission document and comments made by key consultees can be viewed on the Huntingdonshire District Council Consultation Portal in ‘External Links’.
The Council approved the Development Management DPD for publication in February 2010. For the six week period between 26 March 2010 and 7 May 2010 comments could be made on the DPD and Final Sustainability Appraisal. Comments were limited to whether the plan is ‘sound’ and ‘legally compliant’. An interactive version of the Development Management DPD: Proposed Submission 2010 and its accompanying Final Sustainability Appraisal are available in the Consultation Portal in 'External Links'. Comments can also be viewed through the Consultation Portal.
What happens next?
The Council is currently reviewing its position on the Development Management DPD following the Government’s indication that it intends to revoke the East of England Plan (RSS) and pending the Localism Bill, expected in December 2010.
