Skate Park celebrates birthday

Skateboarder airborne

Hunts Skaters are celebrating their fantastic street style skate facility with a second birthday extravaganza on Saturday 3 September 2011. The event has been sponsored by local businesses and organisations, and there will be a number of competitions and demonstrations as well as a barbeque run by the Rotary Club of Huntingdon Cromwell.

The event will run from 12 – 4pm at Stukeley Meadows Skate Park and all are welcome. Those wishing to participate in the competitions can enter from 11am. Stalls will be on display hosted by Zing Bikes, Richardson Cycles and Invert Scooters as well as VW camper vans.

Councillor Tom Sanderson, executive councillor for health and active communities said: “This annual event is a great way of celebrating this fantastic facility that is available for all to use, and showcasing some of the talent within the skate disciplines that we have in this area. We hope that this free family event will be attended by a variety of people.”

Hunts Skaters are very grateful for the support that they have received from In Bed Furniture (Anglia), Billys, Stukeley Meadows Residents Association, Luminus Group and Churchmanor Estates.

Hunts Skaters worked with Huntingdonshire District Council, Huntingdon Town Council, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and local residents to secure the site and funding for the skate park, which opened in 2009.
