In the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games there will be a host of sporting events for Huntingdonshire residents to get involved in. The sport and active lifestyles team at Huntingdonshire District Council has organised a series of Olympic festivals involving local sports clubs demonstrating what they can offer, and providing people with the opportunity to try a range of sports.

The festivals are free of charge and for all the family. Activities will include Impressions gym challenges, Olympic inspired challenges and a variety of Olympic and non Olympic sports to try.

The festivals will take place from 12pm to 3pm on 25 February at One Leisure St Ives, 29 April at One Leisure St Neots, 27 May at One Leisure Ramsey and 24 June at One Leisure Sawtry. The Sports Festival in the Park concludes events on 22 July at Hinchingbrooke Country Park from 11am until 2pm.

Councillor Tom Sanderson, whose executive responsibilities include sport and active lifestyles, said: “The DASH Project provides so many different opportunities for families to get involved with sport and physical activity. It’s great to see sporting opportunities available at these Olympic events.”

The DASH project will continue to offer a wide range of sporting activities through 2012 and into 2013. For more information about the project and what it has to offer visit the DASH web pages using the link on the right or contact the sport and active lifestyles team on 01480 388469.
