Moor In Bloom AGM
Improving the urban community for visitors and residents is a top priority for a group of dedicated volunteers in oxmoor.
Over the last 12 months the Moor in Bloom volunteers have made improvements to open spaces, worked with residents of Bradshaw Close by offering garden makeovers as well as providing daffodil bulbs to create a splash of sunshine colour in the spring.
This valuable work by Moor in Bloom volunteers, residents of Oxmoor, with support from Huntingdonshire District Council, Huntingdon Town Council, Luminus and OCAG led them to being awarded silver for the urban community in the regional Anglia in Bloom Competition.
Councillor Darren Tysoe, Executive Councillor for Environment said: “Achieving a silver award in Britain in Bloom was fantastic news but the cherry on the cake was being awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom School Award for Spring Common School at the national awards ceremony in Scotland. Well done to everyone involved.”
On Wednesday 19 October the annual general meeting is taking place at 3.30pm in Medway Court, Oxmoor.
Chair of Moor in Bloom and Ranger at HDC Brian Gardner said: “We are keen to involve as many people as possible to ensure this is a sustainable project. We need new people to come forward with suggestions for fundraising opportunities as well as ideas for other areas to show to the judges. Everyone is welcome to the meeting.”
A presentation by Sue Bellamy will also take place looking at the values of Aloe-Vera and the importance of pollination by bees. Sue will consider the values this plant can bring to our everyday life.
