Learn to swim your way to better health

There are many reasons why adults want to learn how to swim. Whether it’s parents wanting to keep up with their children in the pool, you are off on holiday and want to make the most of the facilities, or you have been advised by your GP to start swimming for low impact exercise. Alternatively, you may have just forgotten how!

Whether you want to learn swimming as a new skill or just brush up on your existing swimming ability, One Leisure St Ives can help as they are now offering adult swimming lessons during the daytime. Although evening lessons are still available, daytime swimming lessons are more convenient especially if you have children at school, or are retired.

The daytime lessons are available for complete beginners and suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes. You are never too old to learn how to swim and swimmers will learn with other adults of the same ability making it a sociable and supporting atmosphere to learn in. Making that first step to start lessons can be daunting but the qualified instructors will ensure that you gain confidence, develop technique and most importantly enjoy swimming.

Swimming is great for weight loss, building body confidence, spending time with children or grandchildren and is also a great way to keep fit. Doing 30 minutes of exercise in the pool equates to 60 minutes of land based exercise, and due to its low impact there is less pressure on the joints and the resistance of the water helps to give you a full body workout.

One Leisure St Ives begins its next block of daytime adult swimming lessons on Tuesday 22 February, 9am to 10am, and will run for five weeks. For bookings and further details contact One Leisure St Ives on 01480 388500 or alternatively use the link on the right of the page
