Council Tax Recovery
Struggling to pay your Council Tax?
If you are in severe financial difficulty, enforcement action will usually continue (to protect the Council's interests) but we would suggest you contact a recognised advice agency, who will offer a free debt counselling service.
They will assess your problems and make proposals for payment to all the people you owe money to. Links to these agencies can be found on this page in the External Links box.
Do not consider entering into an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (I.V.A) or making yourself bankrupt, unless you have spoken to one of these agencies. Applying for an I.V.A or bankruptcy is a very serious thing to do and there may be a better way for you to deal with your financial problems.
