Coaches and Volunteers

Coaches

Support and advice is offered to both existing coaches and those that want to get involved in coaching. The work carried out by the sports development team relies heavily on the availability and input of sports coaches, therefore we are committed to help coaches with personal development.

The County Sports Partnership, Living Sport, run a range of courses for anyone involved in sport including coaches, officials and administrators. Information about training courses such as First Aid, Child Protection, Coaching Disabled Performers and many more can be found on the Living Sport website.

Volunteers

Volunteers are essential to the running of sport – without them many clubs and events would not develop or in some cases cease to exist.

Huntingdonshire District Council is always eager to recruit new volunteers with a range of experience and skills. There are many different roles that volunteers can play within sport such as:

Administration
Coaching
Officiating
Fundraising
Cleaning
Finance
Maintenance

For further information and guidance about volunteering within sport and physical activity in Huntingdonshire, please contact the Sport and Active Lifestyles team, or alternatively submit the Volunteer Profile and Self-Disclosure Form about yourself within related information.

Volunteers - Can you help to 'Inspire and create a Legacy'?

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are making preparations as part of the UK's countdown to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Games will inspire thousands of people to become more involved with volunteering in their local communities.

• Can you help to ‘Inspire and create a legacy’ by providing your services as a volunteer wishing to be more involved in community sports clubs?
• Do you need new volunteering skills for either long or short term projects?

‘Volunteering Cambridgeshire & Peterborough’, consists of six volunteer centres in Cambridge, Ely, Fenland, Huntingdonshire, Peterborough and Royston, with services free of charge to both organisations and volunteers.

They can help:
• Recruit and manage volunteers
• Develop and promote volunteering opportunities
• Offer advice, support and training in the development of good practice
• Identify volunteering opportunities in your area

Contact Volunteering Cambs and Pboro now and get inspired!
