Strategic Housing Market Assessment
Assessing housing need is important to help inform the Council’s Housing and Planning Strategies. Through examining issues like population growth, housing affordability and housing supply, we can draw conclusions about how much new housing is needed, in which locations and of what type, tenure and cost.
A Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) has been completed for the Cambridge sub-region which includes Huntingdonshire. The SHMA is the subject of regular review and updates. It includes a wealth of information about:
• The Cambridge sub-region
• The current and future housing markets
• Current and projected populations
• Housing affordability
• Housing supply
• Housing need including for people with special needs and people in different income groups.
