Accessibility Statement

Huntingdonshire District Council is constantly reviewing the accessibility of our website to ensure that we continue to improve the ways in which our customers access our site.  Due to the way the guidelines and standards change there are always improvements to be made to the way in which we deliver our services, so we urge you to let us know if you find something that needs improvement.  Please use the link on the right to contact our webteam and try to give us as much detail as possible so we can try to resolve any problems you have encountered.

Ultimately our goal is to make our website as accessible as possible by adhering as closely as we can to the various standards and guidelines laid out for local authorities, such as:

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) versions 1.0 and 2.0 as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
  • The “A” and “AA” standards for content accessibility.
  • Principles outlined by the Plain English Campaign (opens in new window) for writing simple, effective and accessible content.
  • W3C's XHTML and CSS standards.

Please use the links on the right of this page to find more detailed information about our Accessibility features and requirements.

Areas of reduced accessibility

We are aware of the following areas of our website that are not currently as accessible as we would like. Please note that these are systems that are bought in rather than developed in house.

  • Public Access Planning Information - a new version is due shortly that should fix this issue.
  • Leisure Bookings - This system is currently not accessible.
