Sport and Active Lifestyles Team
The Sport & Active Lifestyles team offers a wide range of sport and health related activities to promote a healthy population within the district.
The team works closely with a number of partners to help provide these activities, such as young people's holiday programmes, disability sports clubs and health walks. Health Walks
As part of the National Initiative and with funding from Huntingdonshire District Council, Huntingdonshire Primary Care Trust and The Countryside Agency the Huntingdonshire Health Walks Scheme has now been established. The walks have been set up in St Ives, St Neots, Huntingdon and Ramsey. They provide people in the community with the opportunity to participate in organised health walks with trained leaders and volunteers. Walking is an easy and cheap way to get fit and stay healthy. Active Life and RightStart 123
Active Life is run by the Sport and Active Lifestyles Team with funding from Well-Being in the East, Big Lottery Fund. The scheme aims to increase physical activity levels of Huntingdonshire Residents aged over 50, by promoting and delivering a range of activities. This scheme includes the popular RightStart 123 classes run across the district. For more information, please see the link on the right.
Exercise Referral Scheme
The exercise referral scheme provides local people access to exercise for rehabilitation and prevention of specific medical conditions. Registered Health Professionals can refer individuals who may benefit from a personalised exercise programme to any of the District's Leisure Centre. Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV Classes
Designed for people who have suffered a heart attack or have undergone heart surgery. Patients who have completed a hospital based exercise programme are referred to a community exercise class run by specially qualified instructors. For further information please use the link on the right.
Community Footcare
Feet Focus Community Footcare offers low cost nail cutting and treatment for corns for patients who are unable to access NHS Podiatry due to the criteria. With appointments available from the Oak Tree Health Centre Huntingdon and Ramsey Road Clinic St Ives. Follow the link on the right for more information.
