SHLAA

The purpose of the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is to identify and assess potentially suitable sites for all types of housing. It is not a policy document and does not dictate future policy direction. It enables the Council to demonstrate to the government that Huntingdonshire has an adequate supply of housing land for the needs of all in accordance with their guidance. Decisions on which sites will be developed will be made through the forthcoming Planning Proposals Development Plan Document (DPD) and Gypsy and Traveller Sites DPD. Local communities will be fully engaged in preparation of these plans during this year.

Gypsy and Traveller Sites Assessment

In June 2009 we called for further sites to be considered for their suitability for Gypsy and Travellers as part of the review of our SHLAA. Sites which were received prior to February 2010 have been considered, together with public land and urban growth areas. The resulting draft SHLAA Part C was available for public consultation 28 May to 30 July 2010.

Market Housing and Rural Exceptions Housing

The SHLAA update has already considered potential sites for Market Housing in Part A, which was consulted on earlier this year.

The Council has recently completed the second part of an update to the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA Part B). This part looks at potential sites for Rural Exceptions Housing and consultation ran from 14th May until 11th June 2010.

Both documents are available to view in 'Linked Documents'.
