Neighbourhood Forums

What is a Neighbourhood Forum?

Five Neighbourhood Forum meetings have been established across Huntingdonshire to give local residents somewhere to bring their ideas, issues and comments about their neighbourhood. They have been in operation now for just over two years and provide an opportunity for members of the public to find out more about what is going on in the local area and have their say about how services are being delivered.

Representatives from the Council, the Police, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, Luminus, Cambridgeshire County Council, the NHS and Parish Councils in each neighbourhood are there to help answer your questions and, with your help, plan presentations and information at meetings.  The Forums aim to encourage local people to get involved with public services and provide information on local issues and priorities.

There are five Neighbourhood Forums established in Huntingdonshire, serving the following neighbourhoods:-

  • Huntingdon area
  • North-West Huntingdonshire
  • Ramsey area
  • St Ives area
  • St Neots area

To find out what each of the Forums are up to, please click on the webpage of the Forum you are interested in which is located to the left of this page.

A map reflecting the Forum boundaries and the Terms of Reference for the Neighbourhood Forums can be found to the right of this page.

Review of the Neighbourhood Forums

In September 2011, the District Council embarked upon a review of the Neighbourhood Forums in Huntingdonshire. The Forums held their final meetings in their present form in March/April 2012. It is intended that new arrangements will be launched in September 2012 and a consultation has been launched to seek views on the proposals.

The consultation will run for a 6 week period from 30th April to 8th June 2012 inclusive.

It is proposed that the existing Neighbourhood Forums will evolve into Local Joint Committees. Further details can be found by clicking on the Linked Documents Section to the right of this page where you will be able to access further details on the proposals.

As members of the public, you are encouraged to submit your views and comments in writing to the following:-

Chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Panel (Social Well-Being)
c/o Miss H Ali
Democratic Services
Pathfinder House
St Mary's Street
Huntingdon
PE29 3TN

Alternatively, you may wish to submit them via email to the Democratic Services Team by clicking on the relevant link to the right of this page.

Views on the proposals are also being sought from District and County Members, Town and Parish Councils and Partners of the existing Neighbourhood Forums.

Feel free to submit your own response by the 8th June 2012.
