Make it your Market programme gets £12,000 funding boost
The ‘Make it Your Market’ programme begins this, its second year, with a funding boost of £12,000.
The programme, run by Huntingdonshire District Council, Business Link and the Huntingdon Town Partnership, promotes the use of markets across the district. The funding has been awarded by Improvement East, the Regional and Efficiency Partnership for the East of England who support local authorities and fire and rescue services in their drive to improve services and increase efficiency.
The money will be used to develop the programme during 2010 and will mean that, in addition to the workshops aimed at helping people to set up their own market trader business, market stall rigs will be available to programme participants to rent at very low cost to help them keep their start up costs low. Participants also benefit from discounts on market stall pitches in Huntingdon, Ramsey and St Ives.
Free workshops are available and cover how to plan, structure, research and set up a market stall business including how to deal with tax, national insurance and VAT.
If you are interested in starting your own market trader business, call 0845 601 1000 to book a place on one of the following workshops.
